Green Idea House Hits First Big Milestone: 97.5% Landfill Diversion
by Robert Fortunato on March 23rd, 2011 4 Comments

We are happy to announce that the Green idea House hit one of its first key milestones.  With the help of The Reuse People and RER Demolition, 97.5% of the material generated from the deconstruction was diverted from the landfill.  Given this is probably the single largest waste generating activity in our lifetime; we felt it was important to do it mindfully.

When the tax deduction for the donated portion of the material is taken into account, the cost is only slightly higher than normal demolition.

In this video, Arthur Renault, Regional Manager, The Reuse People talks about how and why they do it:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZFl68hy0DE
