Since it’s formation in 1947, West Basin has been committed to ensuring water reliability for coastal Los Angeles. Today, West Basin meets that commitment through its Water Reliability 2020 program made up of conservation, water recycling and pursuing environmentally responsible programs. West Basin’s conservation programs have saved more than 5.4 billion gallons of water and the District has recycled more than 100 billion gallons of water! As a case study home, this as an opportunity to put forth ideas and share information with the public about best management practices for water-use efficiency both inside and outside the home. The Fortunato’s vision has brought together diverse groups of people to help answer a complex question, “What does it mean to be sustainable and how can we do that affordably?” West Basin is happy to support the Fortunato’s and their efforts to bring the idea and implementation of affordable sustainability to people of the South Bay and beyond.
