Botanical Garden Gets the Green
by Robert Fortunato on July 4th, 2010 No Comments

Patrick Moore and Jim Catella,  friends of the Manhattan Beach Botanical Garden, came by recently to harvest two large Agave Americana from our front yard and transplant them into the MBBG.  This is a great example of how being green is good for everyone:

–          The MB Botanical Garden is thrilled to get beautiful specimens they otherwise would pay for

–          If they stayed on our site, they would have ended up in a landfill or destroyed by the contractors

–          Because they are not on site, salvage, dump fees and landfill are reduced

–          Because MBBG is a non profit, the donation is tax deductible

Green can be good for all!  Does it take more time and effort to coordinate this?  Certainly, but the impact is priceless.
